SANSA Space Science is host to the only Space Weather Regional Warning Centre in Africa which operates as part of the International Space Environment Service (ISES). The Space Weather Centre provides an important service to the nation by monitoring the sun and its activity to provide information, early warnings and forecasts on space weather conditions. The space weather products and services are required primarily for communication and navigation systems, in the defence, aeronautics, navigation and communication sectors.

Solar activity was low to moderate with background X-ray flux at lower C-class levels. An M1.5 flare was observed at 03/07:41 UT from AR3730 during the past 24 hours. There are ten sunspot regions on the visible solar disk showing simple to slightly complex magnetic configurations. The solar wind speed is at background levels with speed ranging between 330-360 km/s. There are several small filaments and large prominences on the visible solar disk that show small movements and will be monitored for any potential lift-offs. No Earth-directed CMEs were observed in the available coronagraph imagery during the past 24 hours. Geomagnetic conditions were at quiet levels with the global Kp ranging between 1-2. Local HF working frequencies are near monthly predicted values.
